Who we are

Twenty years of large image work

Dataflow AV is the specialist team behind three of the UK's long established visual solutions businesses.

Our story

Three businesses. One technical team.

Dataflow AV has spent twenty years at the demanding end of visual solutions. Large images in real rooms, where the picture has a job to do and an audience that notices when it does not.

The group is three specialist businesses, each with its own depth of knowledge, and one technical team behind them that has walked into the same rooms and met the same problems many times over. Almost all of what we know was learned on site rather than from a datasheet.

Large image work is its own discipline, and the same room can potentially require projection, large format displays or direct view LED or a combination of all three depending on what it has to do.

How much light the room throws at the picture, how far back the last row sits and how close the first one gets. The pixel pitch or throw distance that follows from those, the power and heat the choice brings with it, the wall that will not take a fixing and the ceiling that will not take the weight. Get those right and nobody notices the equipment at all, which is usually the point.

We are not tied to one approach.

We are not tied to one approach.

Dataflow AV has spent twenty years working at the demanding end of visual solutions. Over that time we have built three specialist businesses, each with its own depth of knowledge, and a technical team that has seen the same rooms and the same problems many times over.

Because we are not tied to one manufacturer, the advice you get is shaped by your space and your objectives rather than by what happens to be easiest for us to supply.

With you the whole way.

With you the whole way.

We support you at every stage of the journey, from the first conversation about what a space needs to be, through design and delivery, and for as long as the installation is in service.

You are not passed around. The same names stay on the project from the first survey which is why conversations tend to pick up where they left off rather than starting again.

Nothing is handed between departments and started again. The survey notes, the drawings and the settings all stay with the project, so when you call about a room we fitted three years ago, someone can pull it up and answer the question without asking you to explain the building from the beginning.

Where we work.

Where we work.

Corporate, commercial, education, maritime and places of worship. Five sectors with almost nothing in common on paper, and one thing in common the moment you are standing in the room.

None of them were designed around the picture. The room comes first and the image has to work inside it: sightlines set by the architect, a wall that will not take a fixing, a ceiling with a weight limit, and in most of them light that cannot be turned off. The work is in making it hold up in the room as it actually is, rather than as a specification sheet assumes it will be.

What differs is what each sector cannot tolerate. A boardroom is judged every morning on whether it simply works. A campus needs the same system in thirty rooms, operable by whoever walks in and turns it on. A vessel answers to power, weight and vibration before anything else. A place of worship needs the equipment to disappear.

How a project runs.

How a project runs.

Every project runs the same way, and the same team carries it from the first visit to the support call years later. Each stage ends with something written down, so nobody has to ask where a project has got to.

Survey. We measure the room and record sightlines, light, power and what the structure will take, then write it up.

Specification. What goes where and why, as drawings and a schedule you can price, question or hand to another trade.

Procurement. Ordered against your programme, with lead times confirmed before they can become your problem.

Installation. Fitted to the drawings, cabled and commissioned, and the room left clean.

Handover. Settings recorded, documentation issued, and the people who will use it shown how, in the room itself.

Support. Maintenance, spares and answers, for as long as the installation is in service.

What happens after handover.

What happens after handover.

An installation is the start of the relationship rather than the end of it. The room has to still work on a Monday morning three years from now, in front of people who will not forgive it if it does not, and the team that designed and fitted it is the team best placed to keep it that way.

Every system we install is supported. The survey notes, drawings, settings and documentation stay with the project.

Beyond that we offer optional maintenance contracts. A contract turns support from something you ring about once it has already gone wrong into something planned: a scheduled visit rather than a reaction, priority when you do need us, filters, optics and consumables accounted for in advance, and firmware and settings checked and brought back into line before anyone in the room notices a drift.

It also takes the guesswork out of budgeting. You know what the year costs, you know what is covered, and you get an honest view of where the equipment sits in its working life, so replacing it becomes a decision you make in your own time rather than one forced on you the week it fails.

Cover is scaled to the room. A single boardroom and a campus of thirty teaching spaces do not need the same arrangement, so we agree what is included, how quickly we respond and what is held in stock before anything is signed. And if you would rather not take a contract, that is fine. We are still here when you call.

What it adds up to

Twenty years, in practice.

Pattern recognitionWe have seen your room before, in a dozen versions. The questions we ask come from the ones that caught people out.
Manufacturer standingDirect lines to the people who make the equipment, not a queue behind a distributor.
ContinuityThe team that designs your system is the team that answers when you call about it.
